Biography

Coach Mohamad Saatara joined the Longhorn staff in June of 2025 as the new throws coach for the University of Texas after 12 seasons at Cal. Saatara is a veteran of more than 20 years of collegiate coaching experience and nearly 30 overall, was an All-American thrower himself and has coached student-athletes that claimed 43 total All-American honors, four national championships, two NCAA records and a multitude of conference, meet and school records during his time as an assistant coach. Saatara comes the Forty Acres after spending the last 12 seasons at the University of California-Berkeley, where he joined the track & field program in August of 2013 as assistant coach for throwing events. He also spent three years at Michigan, which followed eight at Northern Arizona during his collegiate coaching career. "I'm so excited to be adding Coach Saatara to our staff. He is someone I've known and followed for a long time and has an incredible reputation in the coaching circles at every level," said Floréal. "His ability to coach and develop throwers is world renowned and the success his athletes have had on the collegiate and international level is a tribute to the work he pours into them.
