The University of Tampa Women's Tennis

Tony D'Angelo was hired as the third tennis head coach in University of Tampa history, being named to the position on September 16, 2024. D'Angelo previously spent six seasons as the head coach at Endicott College, leading the Gulls from 2018-24. He registered a record of 60-30 (.667), including a 29-3 (.906) in-conference record. His Gulls were a four-time CCC Champion (Spring 2021, Fall 2021, 2022, 2023) and totaled five CCC Championship appearances. Among his accomplishments, he guided the women's program to its first-ever ITA Regional Ranking (March 29, 2023) and was named the 2023 CCC Coach of the Year. D'Angelo also coached the men's program at Endicott for six years, amassing a 43-54 overall record and 23-12 conference record. During the 2023-2024 season, he led the program to its first-ever CCC Conference Finals appearance. In total, he coached six All-CCC players and three All-CCC Doubles teams. His teams also excelled academically, with six Academic All-Conference student-athletes, nine ITA Scholar-Athletes, and the UTR ITA Team of the Month - April 2021. D'Angelo was previously an assistant coach at Wheaton College (Mass.) for two-plus years. While at Wheaton, D’Angelo helped both Lyons’ programs reach the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament semifinal round in 2017-18. Dalia El Sheikh serves as a volunteer assistant coach, bringing more than 20 years of high-performance coaching and international playing experience to the program. She holds both PTR (Professional Tennis Registry) and GPTCA Level C coaching certifications and has worked extensively with high-performance juniors and adult players throughout her coaching career. A former standout competitor, El Sheikh was ranked the No. 1 player in Egypt for eight different years (1994, 1995, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002). She was also a key member of the Egyptian National Team from 1994–2002, representing her country in the Fed Cup from 1995–2000. Internationally, she helped lead Egypt to Arab Championship Team titles in 1996, 1998, 2000, and 2002. In addition to her tennis background, El Sheikh is an accomplished marketing professional with more than 20 years of experience in marketing and advertising. She has successfully launched and managed products in both the Egyptian and United States markets, bringing strategic insight and leadership from the business world into her coaching approach.
