Michael Burkhardt

Biography

Michael Burkhardt enters his third season as an assistant coach after arriving on Castle Point in the winter of 2021 after serving as a volunteer assistant coach at his alma mater, Adrian College. Burkhardt was selected as the recipient of the AVCA Thirty Under 30 Award in 2023. He was also an integral part of the Ducks' 2023 National Championship team. As an undergraduate, Burkhardt was a four-year starter, and two-year captain, at Adrian, finishing his career fourth in career kills, third in career hitting percentage, first in solo blocks, first in block assists and first in total blocks. He was named to the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League's All-Academic Team four times and was a five-time Dean's List honoree. Burkhardt was one of 15 Division III and NAIA student-athletes selected to play overseas in Italy through Beyond Sports. He earned bachelor of science degree in exercise science from Adrian in 2019 and then earned his master's of science degree in athletic training one year later. Burkhardt holds multiple certifications and is an active member of the National Athletic Training Association.
