Savanah Atkins joined head coach Ryan Carriker's staff prior to the start of the 2025 softball season. Atkins, a five-year standout during her playing career at Salem, works directly with pitchers and catchers. Atkins was a two-sport athlete at Salem, competing in both softball and basketball during her collegiate career. On the diamond, she amassed the 14th-most hits (72) in program history and left with the distinction of being the only player in Salem history to play all nine positions on the field. Atkins also blasted 11 home runs as a Spirit, placing her in a four-way tie alongside Logan Bowling, Briana Crumley and Brianna Morris for third-most in Salem history. Atkins came to Salem after graduating from Surry Central High School in 2019. She was a three-sport athlete that competed in softball, basketball and golf. A four-time letterwinner in softball, under coaches Whitney Joyner and Donald Joyner, Atkins was named Honorable Mention (2016) and All-Conference (2017, 2018, 2019) in her career. On the hardwoods, Atkins earned three varsity letters in basketball, under the direction of coaches Mandy Holt and Lauren Johnson, while being named Honorable Mention (2017-18) and All-Conference (2018-19). As a member of the varsity golf team on three occasions, under coaches Lauren Johnson and Daniel Broughton, Atkins earned All-Conference, All-Region and All-State in consecutive seasons between 2016 and 2018.
