Marcus Ferreira

Biography

Marcus Ferreira joined the Saint Mary’s men’s tennis program as an assistant coach ahead of the 2025-26 season after the conclusion of his athletic career at Vanderbilt. Ferreira originally grew up in Hilton Head, South Carolina but has family in the Lamorinda area that gave him ties to Saint Mary’s. Ferreira was a four-year member of the Dores men’s tennis program, competing from 2018 to 2022. With the Dores, Ferreira had a 99-89 career record with 63 singles match victories and 36 in doubles play. He stormed onto the scene in 2019 with 19 match victories as a true freshman including a career long seven-match win streak. Following the cancellation of the 2020 season due to COVID-19, Ferreira put together a solid senior campaign in 2022. He finished with a career best 13 doubles victories and also posted a pair of ranked singles wins defeating No. 100 Trice Pickens from Northwestern No. 119 Oscar Pinto Sansano from Arkansas. Ferreira graduated from Vanderbilt with a degree in Finance and was a three-time SEC Academic Honor Roll selection (2020, 2021, 2022). Ferreira will take the 2025-26 season with the Gaels to get his feet wet in coaching while studying for the CFA.
