Ryan Gipson

Biography

Former infielder and 2006 national champion Ryan Gipson is in his sixth season as an assistant coach with Oregon State after joining the program in October 2018. • The Oregon State alum helped mentor the second No. 1 pick in the MLB Draft - both in Gipson’s tenure - in 2024 in Travis Bazzana. He was named a finalist for the Golden Spikes Award and Dick Howser Trophy while being selected an All-American and the Pac-12 Player of the Year. • The Beavers set a program-record with 118 home runs in 2024, marking the second-most ever by a Pac-12 program. Bazzana tallied a program-record 28 while Gavin Turley had 19. Turley was also selected as an All-American in 2024. • The Beavers batted .297 as a team, hit 128 doubles and 20 triples and tied the program’s single-season record with 518 runs scored. • Gipson helped the Beavers to their sixth consecutive postseason appearance in 2023, and OSU featured one of the most balanced offenses in the Pac-12. The Beavers led the league in stolen bases and walks, set the school’s single-season record with 89 home runs and were among the league’s best in batting average, doubles and runs scored. • Five different position players have been named All-Americans during Gipson’s tenure. • Jacob Melton became one of just four players in OSU history to be named a First-Team All-American by at least six organizations.
