In 2017, Mulford graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in sociology and anthropology from Lake Forest College, where he played for the school's football program. He received a Masters of Arts in Sports Administration from Northwestern in 2025. After graduating from Lake Forest, Mulford spent two seasons as an assistant football coach with the Lake Forest football team, working with wide receivers and as an assistant special teams coordinator.
