Jonea Rima

Biography

Jonea Rima was hired as head coach for Colonel indoor/beach volleyball at Nicholls State University in March 2023. She comes to Thibodaux after a successful six years at Midway University, an NAIA program in Kentucky, where she turned around the Eagle women's program and coached the men's team. After nearly posting a .500 record in her third season, Rima led the Eagles to an impressive 60-19 mark over the last three years, highlighted by a 24-5 campaign in 2021, which earned her RSC Volleyball Coach of the Year honors. Prior to Midway, she was an assistant coach at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, where the Hawks led the NCAA in team aces. She also served as head coach at Seminole State College, where she led a 15-win improvement in her second year to finish 29-13. Rima's earlier coaching positions included head coach roles at Missouri Valley College, Clarendon College (2003-2008), and Sheridan College (2008-2011). Throughout her career, she has coached multiple NAIA Region V Players of the Week, Daktronics NAIA Scholar All-Americans, and Academic All-Americans. Rima is a graduate of Hendrix College in Arkansas with a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education and holds a Master's of Science in Exercise Science from ULM.
