Biography

Lauren (Giesecke) Wamsley, a renowned women’s golf coach with nine years of head coaching experience prior to joining the Blue Raiders, was named head coach of the Middle Tennessee women’s golf program in July 2024. Wamsley is the fourth Blue Raiders head coach in the program’s history. In her first year at the helm of the Blue Raiders, Wamsley led the team to its first team tournament title since 2022 at the Cardinal Cup and three top-three finishes. Middle Tennessee earned its best finish at the Conference USA Championship, at fourth, since the 2020-21 season and the most top three finishes since the 2018-19 campaign. Under Wamsley's guidance, the program saw its season stroke average improve by 8.22 strokes to 295.28, the fourth best in program history, and the team's ranking jump over 60 spots to No. 98, the first time since 2021 that the season-ending team ranking has been in the top 100. The program also saw two student-athletes, Ella Manley and Abbie Lee, named to All-Conference USA teams, a feat that hadn't been accomplished since the 2018-19 slate. The Kokomo, Indiana, native came to Murfreesboro from Grand Canyon, where she had been the head coach of the Lopes since 2015. Under Wamsley, GCU broke numerous Division I era program records in the 2022-23 season, bringing home six top-three finishes and 5 top-three finishes in a row during the 2023 spring campaign.
