Bryce Brentz

Biography

Bryce Brentz enters his third season as Assistant Coach at Middle Tennessee. The MTSU Baseball all-time home run leader begins his coaching career after playing ten years in Major League Baseball where he was a first-round draft pick of the Boston Red Sox in 2010. Brentz has overseen the development of four CUSA First Team All-Conference, one Second Team All-Conference and two All-Freshman Team honorees, including the first Conference USA Freshman of the Year in program history. The former Blue Raider also coached several impressive single-season performances from the plate, including players in the top ten in triples, home runs, RBIs, slugging percentage, on-base percentage and walks in the Middle Tennessee record book. Brentz was inducted into the Blue Raider Hall of Fame in 2020, while his wife Anne Marie Brentz was inducted in 2023 for her integral part in one of the greatest eras in Lady Raider basketball. He was named the 2009 Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year after leading NCAA Division 1 in home runs and helping lead the Blue Raiders to a school-record 44 wins. Brentz is the all-time home run leader and in the top three of seven career categories: home runs (1st), slugging percentage (1st), multi-home run games (1st), batting average (2nd), runs scored (2nd), total bases (2nd) and RBI (3rd).
