Ben Jones

Biography

Ben Jones joined Indiana University in October 2023 as a Sport Scientist and was promoted to Director of Sport Science in April 2025. As Director, Jones, who is an NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist and Certified Performance & Sport Scientist, oversees training load prescription and monitoring, weight room force testing, cardiopulmonary exercise testing, return-to-play progressions and wellness data collection and reporting for 23 sports. He also leads a variety of data science projects that support evidence-based decision making across the department. Jones works most closely with the men's and women's basketball and men's soccer programs in addition to serving as the Athletic Performance Coach for the men's tennis team. Before arriving at Indiana, Jones served as an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach at Bellarmine University from 2022-23, where he worked with the women's basketball, women's tennis, and the track & field programs. Under his guidance, Bellarmine track & field set over a dozen school records and earned eight medals at the ASUN Championships. His experience also includes time in the NBA as a Performance Science Associate with the Oklahoma City Thunder, where he contributed to daily athlete monitoring processes and combine testing for NBA draft prospects, and served as the lead performance scientist for the Thunder's 2021 NBA Summer League team.
