Rob Stevermer

Biography

Rob Stevermer is in his second season as an assistant coach with the Gustavus men's basketball team in the 2024-25 season. Stevermer joined the Gustie squad prior to an historical 2023-24 season, where the Gustie men's basketball team won the 2024 MIAC Playoff Championship after an epic postseason run—the first playoff title for the Gusties since 2005. The team finished the season 18-11 overall and 14-6 in the MIAC, the best record in a dozen years, before falling to Loras in the first round of the national tournament. Prior to coming to Gustavus, Stevermer served as the girl's basketball coach of Mankato East High School. His teaching and coaching career started at United South Central High School in Wells, Minnesota, where he served 12 years as the head boys basketball coach before accepting a teaching position at Mankato East High School. He served one year as the assistant boy's basketball coach before being hired as the head coach of the Cougars' girl's program in 2017, compiling a record of 85-72, including a Big 9 Championship and 4th place finish in the AAA State Tournament in the 2021-22 season. Stevermer is currently in his eighth year of teaching Social Studies at Mankato East High School. Rob and his wife Brenda reside in Mankato and have three children.
