Head Swimming & Diving Coach
Francisco 'Chico' Rego is in his second season leading the GW men's and women's swimming & diving program in 2025-26, after being named head coach at GW in June of 2024. Rego excelled in his first year at the helm of the program, leading both the men's and women's swimming and diving teams back to the promise land with a pair of A-10 titles. In doing so, Rego was named the A-10 Men's Coach of the Year, leading multiple student-athletes to major awards, including the A-10 Men's Most Outstanding Performer Connor Rodgers, the A-10 Women's Most Outstanding Divier Olivia Paquette, and the A-10 Men's Most Outstanding Rookie Shae Stratton. Coming from the ACC's Georgia Tech where he was Associate Head Coach, from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Rego earned the opportunity by steadily and relentlessly working his way up the coaching ladder, domestically and abroad, having received his first chance at college coaching as a Graduate Assistant at the SEC's Auburn in 2016. "First, I would like to thank Tanya Vogel and Andrew Lundt for this opportunity. It has been a goal of mine to lead a college team, and GW is one of the most attractive programs in the country! The school's international reputation of top-notch academics in the heart of the nation's capital makes it a no-brainer for student-athletes worldwide. Helping the Buff & Blue reach new levels in and out of the water will be an honor and a privilege. I am confident that this program will build upon its reputation of swimming & diving ex

Head Diving Coach
Christopher Lane is entering his sixth season at the helm of GW diving after being the named GW Swimming & Diving Head Diving Coach in September 2021. Lane has led GW's divers to historic heights, elevating the diving side of the team in his five seasons. Lane, the 2024 A-10 Women's Diving Coach of the Year, has produced success from GW's divers not seen since the 90's. In 2025, Lane's diving contingent sent four student-athletes to NCAA Diving Zone A (Olivia Paquette, Ben Bradley, Holden Wheeler and Michael Wood). Prior to NCAA Diving Zones, GW's divers excelled at the A-10 Championships, claiming one gold medal (Raquette), two silver medals (Paquette & Wood), and one bronze medal (Bradley). After making the podium in both events, Paquette was named the 2025 A-10 Women's Most Outstanding Diver. In 2024, Lane led the Revolutionaries to a historic meet, as the men's and women's divers combined for 174 points, which was the most points from a group of divers in the five years prior to that meet. As a collegiate competitor, Lane started at Ball State University diving with John Wingfield (2008 USA Olympic Team Head Coach) before transferring to Arizona, where he was a PAC-10 finalist and NCAA Zones qualifier. In 2019, Lane came to Foggy Bottom to pursue his MPH through the Milken Institute School of Public Health, and he’s spent the past three seasons working with the Buff & Blue, a run that’s seen the program win 3 consecutive men’s and women’s titles. Since taking the helm at

Associate Head Coach
Kyrylo Shvets was hired as an Assistant Coach of GW Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving teams in August of 2023, later promoted to Associate Head Coach in May of 2025 after two A-10 Championship seasons in Foggy Bottom. "I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve in this new role at GW," said Shvets following his promotion to Associate Head Coach. "This program has a strong tradition of excellence, and I'm excited to continue building on that with our incredible student-athletes and staff. We have big goals ahead, and I'm fully committed to helping this team reach its highest potential - in the pool, in the classroom and as a program united." In Shvets' two seasons at GW, he has already coached the Buff & Blue to four A-10 Championships, and has helped GW earn 27 individual victories at the conference meets in that time. GW has overhauled its record books since Shvets' arrival, setting 27 new swimming records in just the last two seasons. "Kyrylo has been an essential part of the GW swimming and diving program," said Rego. "Without Kyrylo, my first year at GW would have been difficult. This promotion is a result of the dedication and hard work he has put into our program!" Shvets was part of the staff in 2024 that sent GW's largest-ever contingent of three student-athletes to the NCAA Championships and helped produce GW's third-ever CSCAA All-American (Djurdje Matic). Originally from Kharkiv, Ukraine, Shvets graduated from the University of the Incarnate Word with
