Head Coach
Billy Donlon enters his first season as head men’s basketball coach at Eastern Michigan University in 2026-27 with a clear identity and a track record built on discipline, development, and winning. Named the program’s 31st head coach in March 2026, Donlon brings more than 25 years of Division I experience and a reputation for building teams that compete with toughness and consistency. Donlon brings 26 years of collegiate coaching experience, including nine seasons as a head coach and multiple deep postseason runs. His résumé features seven NCAA Tournament appearances, including an Elite Eight run, as well as NIT, CBI, and CIT appearances. As a head coach, Donlon built a reputation for steady program growth. He posted a 155-133 (.538) overall record across nine seasons, including a 109-94 mark at Wright State University and a 46-39 record at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He arrived in Ypsilanti after serving as associate head coach at Clemson, where he played a key role in one of the most successful stretches in program history. Over the past four seasons, Clemson won 98 games and posted a .733 winning percentage in Atlantic Coast Conference play, the second-most wins in the ACC. Graduate Manager
Alex Kling is entering his first year with Eastern Michigan as Graduate Manager for the 2025-2026 academic year. Kling touches numerous areas of the program, handling all of the team's analytics, in addition to being heavily involved with scouting reports, special events, graphics for recruiting, travel and operations, and assisting the Eastern frontcourt players. Kling played basketball at Walled Lake Northern High School. After graduating, he became the Freshman Basketball Head Coach at Rochester Adams High School in 2021-2022. Kling later took on the role as the Freshman Head Coach for Novi High School's Basketball Team from 2022-2025. Kling maintained strong relationships with his players developing their skills, informing them on how to break habits, helped players understand more about the game, and continued watching film together to improve decision making and performance. While at Novi, Kling also assisted with the varsity team where he helped the head coach with daily operations. The White Lake, Mich. native helped develop players during the offseason and regular season through four-man workouts, and watching film at an elite level to improve their skills and identify players tendencies. Kling also gained valuable experience coaching summer league games when the Varsity coach was not present, in addition to running open gyms and workouts/conditioning when needed. Assistant Coach
Carlos McMath is entering his first season as Director of Operations in the 2024-25 academic year. McMath served as an Associate Head Coach at Northwood University in Midland, Mich. from 2022-24 after serving as Head Coach at Schoolcraft Community College for the 2021-22 season. Upon his hiring, March 28, 2024, Head Coach Stan Heath said, "Carlos is a very experienced coach from Northwood, as well as Head Coach at Schoolcraft Community College. He's well-connected in the Saginaw area where there's been an abundance of talent over the years. He brings a great work ethic and is very knowledgeable and will do very well handling our operations." Upon his hiring, McMath said, "I am excited to be joining a great university and coaching staff led by Coach Stan Heath. I look forward to contributing my time, talents, and gifts that are needed for us to be successful on and off the court." Prior to his stint at SCC, McMath was an Assistant Coach for the Timberwolves during the 2020-21 season. Before that, McMath spent six seasons as Head Coach at Delta College, highlighted by a 2018 trip to the national tournament's final four, which marked the program's first appearance in the national tournament since 1989. For his efforts, McMath was named District 10 and Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan Coach of the Year. Graduate Manager
Shawn McCall is entering his first season as Graduate Manager in the 2025-2026 academic year. McCall assists with scouting reports, video, and travel and operations for EMU's Basketball Team. McCall served as a member of the men's basketball team at Bridgewater State, Bridgewater, Mass., from 2020-2021 along side Head Coach Joe Farroba. After his first year at Bridgewater, he transferred to Lesley University, Boston, Mass., from 2021-2024 under Head Coach Devon Mayo. McCall was honored as a member of the Student-Athlete advisory Commitee (SAAC) in 2022-2023, and was name team captain in his final season in 2023-2024. During his senior year, he played in 21 games posting a career-high of 13 points in his first start with the team along with securing three rebounds on Feb. 3, 2024, against VTSU Lyndon. McCall finished the season with 29 points, 11 rebounds, six steals, three assists and one block. McCall later took on an internship role at Brown University, Providence, R.I., during the summer through July and August of 2023. He assisted the Director of Basketball Operations with setting up for the elite camp, registration, and planning for the teams trip to France. After his time at Brown, McCall was hired in as the Assistant Men's Basketball coach at Emmanuel College, Boston, Mass., in 2024-2025.
