Assistant Coach
Jasmine James was named East Carolina women’s basketball’s newest assistant coach on April 13, 2026. James joins the Pirates after her most recent stop with the Tulsa Gulden Hurricane where she served as an assistant coach and general manager. With Tulsa, she helped the team to a 19-12 record in 2025-26, finishing fourth in the American Conference and guiding Hannah Riddick and Mady Cartwright to All-Conference accolades. A 2013 graduate from the University of Georgia, James was a Freshman All-American for the 2009-10 season and a three-time SEC All-Academic honoree. After her collegiate playing career, she was selected by the Seattle Storm in the third round of the 2013 WNBA draft before playing with the Phoenix Mercury domestically and making stops internationally in Brazil, Luxembourg, Germany and Israel in her four-year professional career. After he playing career ended, James began her professional career as a Director of Basketball Operations at Southern Illinois-Edwardsville before making stops as an assistant coach at Texas Tech (2020-22), Missouri (2022-25) and Tulsa (2025-26). As a coach she has helped guide 10 players to All-Conference honors across the American, OVC and SEC as well as mentoring four SEC All-Freshman performers while at Missouri. Kelsey Reilly
Kelsey Reilly was promoted to associate athletic trainer in the summer of 2024. She was hired as an assistant athletic trainer at East Carolina University in July 2019 and works primarily with the Women's Basketball program. Reilly previously worked with the Softball and Men's Golf programs. Reilly earned her Master of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in Sports Management from ECU in 2019 while also working as a graduate assistant for the Pirates. She was responsible for working predominantly with the Softball team. Prior to joining the Pirates, Reilly served as a certified athletic training intern at Butler University working primarily with Football and the Swim and Dive teams. Reilly earned a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training and Community Health at Salisbury University in 2016. Reilly is a certified athletic trainer, licensed through the North Carolina Board of Athletic Training Examiners. She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA), the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers' Association (MAATA) and North Carolina Athletic Trainers' Association (NCATA). She is also a First Aid/CPR/AED instructor through the American Red Cross.

KJ Redmon
KJ Redmon joined East Carolina University in June 2025 after spending a year in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) at Western Michigan University, where he served as an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach. During his tenure, Western Michigan improved its regular season record and earned a berth in the Salute to Veterans Bowl in Montgomery, Alabama. Prior to WMU, Redmon spent the 2023 season in the Big Ten as a professional strength and conditioning intern with The Ohio State University football program. The Buckeyes finished the year with an 11-2 record, including an appearance in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic. From fall 2018 through fall 2022, Redmon was a student-athlete at the University of Mount Union, competing in the 2022 Stagg Bowl (NCAA Division III National Championship) and helping the team capture four Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Championships. He earned his bachelor's degree in Exercise Science while interning with T3 Performance, gaining hands-on experience training multiple Mount Union sports teams. In the summer of 2022, prior to graduation, Redmon interned with the University of Toledo football strength and conditioning staff. That season, the Rockets won the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Championship and the Boca Raton Bowl. At ECU, Coach Redmon oversees the women's basketball strength and conditioning program and assists with the football strength and conditioning staff.

Sophie Freiling
Sophie Freiling was named Director of Women's Basketball Operations on June 2, 2025. Freiling comes to Greenville after a season as the Director of Football Operations at Lafayette College where she managed the day-to-day operations of the program from scheduling traveling to building relationships with donors to serving as a liaison for the program with the athletics department and college. Prior to Lafayette, Freiling spent a two-year stint as a football recruiting and operations intern at Vanderbilt University where she was integrally involved in everything from travel to recruiting to analytics and scouting. The Williamsburg, Va. native is responsible for Lafayette football's day-to-day logistics including team travel, team budget, student-athlete recruitment and a variety of administrative tasks. A former competitive swimmer, golfer and gymnast, Freiling graduated magna cum laude from Vanderbilt in 2023, earning a bachelor of arts degree in political science and medicine, health and society.
