Director of Golf/Head Coach
Kevin Williams, a North Carolina native and East Carolina alum who owns a combined 24-plus years of head coaching experience, returned to his alma mater for a third tenure on June 15, 2021 to provide leadership to the Pirate men’s golf program. In May of 2023, Williams was promoted to Director of Golf and also oversees the women’s program as the full-time head coach. The Littleton, N.C. native served as East Carolina's head men's golf coach from 1995 to 2005 and led the women's program on two separate occasions from 2000 to 2005 and again from 2006 to 2019. During that span, the Pirates collectively recorded a .710 winning percentage, captured 35 team titles, 44 individual championships and produced 23 Academic All-America selections under his tutelage. After replacing long-time coach and Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Hall of Fame member Hal Morrison on August 1, 1995, Williams led the men's team to six tournament trophies, 12 individual medals and five Academic All-America performers in 10-plus seasons. Since returning to ECU in 2021, he has directed the men's program to three additional team wins during the 2022-23 campaign and coached freshman Lucas Augustsson to American Athletic All-Conference honors. Assistant Coach Men's & Women's Golf
Four-time letterwinner Kathryn Carson has returned to Greenville as the assistant coach of the East Carolina women’s golf team effective June 12, 2023. The Mooresville, N.C. native was a decorated golfer during her time as a Pirate competing in 140 rounds during her collegiate career and stood among the top 10 on eight occasions while carrying a 74.85 stroke average, which currently ranks fifth all-time in program history. In her first season with the Pirates, Carson compiled a scoring average of 74.31 and carded three top 10 finishes and 10 rounds of par or better in route to being named AAC Freshman of the Year in 2018 and earning the Kristi Overton Award, which is awarded to a freshman female athlete at ECU with outstanding academic and athletic performance. As a sophomore, Carson finished second on the team in scoring average (74.15), highlighted by a top 10 finish at the Minnesota Invitational (5-under par 211) and Shot 72 or lower 11 times on the year to earn a spot on the AAC All-Conference First Team. Carson competed in seven events during the 2019-20 campaign with a scoring average of 75.40 before the reminder of the season was canceled due the COVID-19 pandemic. Her lowest round of the season was 4-under par 68 during the final round of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic and she tied for the team lead at the Cardinal Cup at 6-over par 222. Lannie Hales
Lannie Hales was promoted to associate athletic trainer in the summer of 2024, after serving as an assistant athletic trainer since being hired at East Carolina in July 2017. Hales currently works with the Softball and Men's Golf programs, after spending four years providing coverage for Cross Country/Track and Field. Prior to joining the Pirates, Hales served two years as a graduate assistant athletic trainer working primarily with the NC State Men's and Women's Cross Country/Track and Field program. Additionally, she assisted with coverage for the NC State Women's Soccer team during the 2016-2017 season. A Lawrenceville, Virginia native, Hales earned a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from James Madison University in May 2015. Hales completed a Master of Education in Adult and Community College Education with a specialization in Health Professions Education from North Carolina State University in May 2017. Hales is a certified athletic trainer, licensed through the North Carolina Board of Athletic Training Examiners. She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA), Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers' Association (MAATA) and North Carolina Athletic Trainers' Association (NCATA).

Malcolm Gray
Malcolm Gray was named the Assistant Athletics Director for Media Relations at East Carolina University in June of 2022. The Greenville, N.C. native and 1996 ECU graduate, who most recently served as Director of Media Relations working with several Pirate teams including football, baseball, women's swimming and diving and men's and women's golf, recently completed his 20th year as a full-time member (23rd overall) of the athletics department. Gray, whose media services operation at Clark-LeClair Stadium has been recognized and lauded by national publications and regional sports information outlets, was chosen in 2021 as the 46th recipient of the prestigious Russell D. Anderson/Wilbur Snypp Award, presented annually by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association for outstanding contributions to college baseball. He currently holds a position on the NCWA executive board as an associate executive director after serving as the organization's President during the 2016-17 season. Gray was also instrumental in helping East Carolina win a pair of earn a pair of Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) "Super 11" Awards for media relations services in 2009 and 2014. In the summer of 2010, Gray worked as the summer press officer with USA Baseball. The Collegiate National Team (CNT) posted a 16-3 record and finished second at the V FISU World University Championships in Tokyo, Japan. Assistant Coach Men's & Women's Golf
Mike Cato begins his third year as an assistant coach at East Carolina, a position he accepted on August 16, 2021. Cato, who was named a full-time assistant coach at ECU on July 3 of 2023, begins his third year with the Pirates where he has helped the program claim three tournament titles and five top three placements over the last two campaigns. During his initial year, Cato helped coach the program to a third-place finish at the ECU Intercollegiate with a score of 888 while three golfers claimed top five finishes in A.J. Beechler (second/Wolfpack Intercollegiate; t3rd/Wake Forest Invitational), Stephen Carroll (t3rd/Wexford Intercollegiate; t5th/ECU Intercollegiate) and Tyler DeChellis (t3rd/Wexford Intercollegiate) Last year the Pirates’ won three events (Ironwood Collegiate Classic, ECU Intercollegiate and Cutter Creek Intercollegiate) and placed second at the River Run Collegiate. Freshman Lucas Augustsson became the seventh different (ninth overall) Pirate too earn American Athletic All-Conference honors after finishing tied for third at The American Championships with a four-under par 206 – the lowest score for ECU in AAC Championship history. Augustsson posted a team-best 72.78 stroke average and recorded four Top 10 finishes in 12 events.
