Assistant Coach (Throws) / Women's Track & Field Recruiting Coordinator
Longtime throws coach Bob Luciano joined the Davidson College track & field staff in August 2024. Leading Davidson's first-ever throwing squad with a full time dedicated throws coach, Luciano's four freshman and two sophomores rewrote the record books during the 2024-2025 season. Sam Ketch set the men's school hammer record with a toss of 47.44m. His 46.97m discus PR ranks 3rd on Davidson's all time performer list. Eddie Brown took 8th place at the Atlantic 10 outdoor championship meet with a massive PR of 14.61m, ranking 7th on Davidson's all time performer list. He earned most improved men's athlete of the year 2024-2025. Chris Thompson's 52.89m javelin PR moved him up to 6th on Davidson's all time performer list. Also during the 2024-2025 season, John Teachman shattered the javelin school record with an NCAA East Regional qualifying throw of 64.02m. His consistency was impressive, throwing beyond 60m in all 7 meets.

Director
Jen Straub, the longest tenured coach at Davidson College, is in her 26th season with the Wildcats and 11th as the Director of Track & Field / Cross Country, which she was elevated to in 2014 after leading both women's programs for 14 years. Hired in 2000, Straub has overseen the program's shift from the Southern Conference to the Atlantic 10 Conference as well as transition into the brand new Lisa and Jeff Case Track & Field Complex, which opened in 2025. In addition to a program-best third-place finish at the 2017 Atlantic 10 Cross Country Championships, Straub has guided the Wildcats to new heights in track & field since joining the league in 2014, highlighted by a school-record 75.5 points in 2024. Straub has had nine all-conference performers on the trails, two Most Outstanding Rookies, and four all-academic selections.

Assistant Coach
Matt Stuck was promoted to Director of Men's Cross Country and Track & Field in July of 2023. Coach Stuck specializes in the pole vault, hurdles, and high jump groups as well as the Heptathlon and Decathlon. The 2025 outdoor season featured some historic moments for the men's track & field program and Coach Stuck. Jayden Smith punch his ticket to the NCAA Championships for the second straight season. The six-time Atlantic 10 champion (outdoors & indoors combined) earned first-team All American honors with an eighth place finish in the 110m hurdles at NCAAs. Smith recorded a time of 13.65 in the championship heat. He is also one of just two Wildcats to earn All-American status on the men's side. John Teachman also made a statement during the 2025 outdoor season. Teachman became the first ever Wildcat to win gold in the Javelin in the Atlantic 10. He threw for 63.34 meters to win the A-10. The Mt. Pleasant, S.C. native also competed at the Nike / USATF U20

Assistant Coach
Zach Haupt joined Davidson as an assistant coach in October 2021. Coach Haupt handles the long jump and triple jump in addition to sprints and sprint relays for both genders. Haupt competed collegiately at McKendree College where he was a four-time All-American selection and earned Most Valuable Field Athlete following the 1997-98 season. He also qualified for the 1996 Olympic Trials. His first foray into coaching was the 2000-01 season at Syracuse University before returning to his alma mater as the Assistant Coach in 2002. After a three-year hiatus, he returned to McKendree as the Associate Men's and Women's Track & Field and Cross Country coach until 2007 before making the move to Webster University from 2008-2010. Haupt spent a year at Central Arkansas from 2010-2011 and left to be the Assistant coach at MIT. He spent two years as the short sprints and jumps coach as well as the strength and conditioning coordinator.
