Biography

Amanda Johnson enters her 11th season in 2025-26 after officially being named the program's ninth head basketball coach in April, 2016 following a successful stint as interim head coach in the second half of the 2015-16 season. Johnson led the Golden Bears to win the NSIC Regular Season and NSIC Tournament Championships in 2024-25. CSP had a program-best 29-3 overall record and earned the team's first berth in the NCAA Tournament in over a decade. Johnson was also named NSIC Coach of the Year, becoming the second coach in program history to earn the honor. In 2021-22 Johnson became Concordia's third head coach to reach 100 career wins, joining her predecessor Paul Fessler (326-148) along with the first to do it, Jack Surridge (199-124). Johnson is now 170-98 after her 10th season at the helm of the program, and finished the 2024-25 season with her seventh winning-record campaign. One of the top post players in Concordia basketball history, Johnson assumed the interim head coach position during winter break of the 2015-16 season and led the program to a 9-10 record highlighted by a 9-6 finish that included an NSIC Sanford Health Tournament first round victory. In her first full season in 2016-17, Johnson led the team to a fifth place finish in the NSIC and a third place finish in the South Division as the team compiled a record of 19-10 (15-7 NSIC) on the season.
