Head Coach
Gina Brewer enters her second season as CSUN head women's soccer coach in 2025-26. Brewer is the seventh head coach in Matador history. In her first year on the sidelines, Brewer helped lead CSUN to a four-win improvement and to a seventh-place finish in the Big West standings after the team was predicted to finish last by the conference's head coaches. The Matadors played for a postseason spot until the final day of the regular season, ultimately finishing 3-4-3 in Big West play. CSUN would record their most overall wins and conference wins since 2019. Brewer also helped mentor a total of five first-time All-Big West honorees. Brewer joined CSUN after spending the 2023 season as an assistant coach at UCLA. In her one season with the Bruins, Brewer helped guide UCLA to the Pac-12 Championship and a 16-2-1 record. Brewer was a volunteer assistant coach at Santa Clara in 2022, helping guide the Broncos to the NCAA second round. She was also on staff in 2021 as a video analyst for the NCAA semifinalist Broncos. During her time with Santa Clara, the Broncos won back-to-back West Coast Conference championships. Prior to her time at Santa Clara, she spent a year and a half as an assistant coach at Loyola Marymount. From 2011-19, she was the head coach at Hawaii Pacific University, where she served as the longest-tenured coach in program history. Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator
Following a historic 2025 season where he helped guide the Matadors to the Big West regular season championship, Kevin Pineda was promoted to Associate Head Coach of the CSUN Women's Soccer program. Overall, Pineda is in his third season with the Matadors. Pineda brings a wealth of high-level coaching, scouting, and analytical experience spanning the collegiate, professional, and national levels. In addition to his on-field coaching and recruiting duties, Pineda oversees the program's performance analysis department, modernizing CSUN's approach to athletic tracking, integration, and tactical preparation. Pineda helped CSUN reach the top of the Big West in his season year with the program in 2025, winning the program’s first regular season conference title in nine seasons and second overall. CSUN went 6-1-3 in Big West play and earn the No. 1 seed in the Big West Championship, returning to the conference tournament for the first time since 2019. The Matadors also finished 8-7-5 overall, posting the program’s first winning season in six years. In Pineda's first season on staff, he helped orchestrate a four-win improvement in 2024, with CSUN playing for a postseason berth until the final day of the regular season. The team also recorded the program's most overall and conference wins since 2019.
