Sam Watson

Biography

Sam Watson joined BGSU's strategic communications department as a coordinator in July 2025. He serves as the primary media contact for swim & dive, track & field and cross country, while also acting as the tertiary media contact for football. A Colorado Springs native, Watson comes to Bowling Green from Baylor University. From 2023-2025, he was a student intern in the Bears' athletics communications department. In this role, he managed social media coverage and input live stats for the tennis, basketball, baseball and softball teams. He also wrote press releases, athlete bios and updated records. Prior to working in athletics communications, Watson interned with the Hyannis Harbor Hawks in the Cape Cod Summer League. In two months, he orchestrated nearly a 17% increase in their Twitter following. In the fall of 2022, he worked for the Texas Sports Hall of Fame. As a public relations intern, he wrote press releases, film scripts and inductee bios. In May 2023, Watson graduated from Baylor with a BA in journalism and communication. He stuck around for two more years, earning his master's in communication on a full academic scholarship in May 2025.
