Virginia, which lost in the NCAA men's lacrosse tournament's first round Sunday night, will have a strong core of players returning next season.

A close defenseman for the Cavaliers’ 2019 national championship team, Logan Greco enters his fourth season on staff with the Virginia men’s lacrosse program in 2026. During the 2023 season, Greco served the Cavaliers’ volunteer assistant coach before being elevated to assistant coach on July 24, 2023. He currently assists with Virginia’s efforts in defensive strategy, training, scouting, recruiting and video analysis. In 2025, Greco oversaw a Cavalier group that led the nation in man-down defense. UVA’s man-down unit only surrendered seven goals amid 53 opposing chances, a clip of 86.8 percent. UVA also finished fourth nationally in ground balls (35.93) and seventh in caused turnovers (9.93) per game. Greco contributed to the development John Schroter (defense), who earned All-ACC honors in his second playing season, as well as USILA Third Team All-American Ben Wayer (LSM). Wayer was also selected by the Philadelphia Waterdogs in the 2025 PLL College Draft. For the second consecutive year, Greco helped the Cavaliers advance to Championship Weekend in 2024, also UVA’s fourth appearance in the previous five NCAA tournaments. In addition to helping the Hoos to their eighth straight winning season with an overall record of 12-6, Cole Kastner (defense) and Chase Yager (SSDM) were both named USILA Second Team All-Americans, while Wayer was tabbed an honorable mention.
