Jon Stuart

Biography

Jon Stuart has been at the helm of the Southern Miss Track and Field program since July of 2014. Stuart, a 20-plus year veteran of coaching track and field, becomes only the fourth Golden Eagles' top coach after most recently serving as men's sprints and hurdles coach at his alma mater, The University of Georgia. He spent a total of 15 seasons at Georgia. Under his guidance during eight seasons, the Bulldog sprinters/hurdlers tallied six Southeastern Conference individual titles, an impressive 23 All-American certificates and one NCAA title. Stuart was named the 2012 USTFCCCA South Region Men's Assistant Coach of the Year. Prior to returning to Georgia, Stuart served as the head track and field coach at ULM for a season, and before that led a nationally recognized sprint squad at the University of Texas-Arlington for three years. Stuart started his coaching career as a graduate assistant for the Bulldogs under John Mitchell, from 1993-94. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education at Georgia in 1992 and his Master of Education in Physical Education in 1994. The 1992 UGA graduate is married to the former Gail Moreland in December 2002 and has two sons, Jake and Scot.
