Jameson Zacharias

Biography

Jameson Zacharias came to Richmond as cornerbacks coach in February 2023 after spending the 2022 season at Georgetown, where he served as the secondary coach. In January of 2026 he added Defensive Recruiting Coordinator to his title. In 2025 with Zacharias' help, Richmond led the Patriot League and ranked fourth nationally in passing defense, allowing just 155.3 yards per game, while finishing second in the conference in scoring defense at 22.7 points per game and third in interceptions with 11. The Spiders also ranked second in the Patriot League and sixth nationally in total defense, surrendering just 290.3 yards per game. CJ Fraser was a key playmaker in Richmond’s secondary in 2025, logging 33 total tackles, including 30 solo stops. He added 1.5 tackles for loss, forced a fumble, intercepted two passes, and broke up nine passes on the season. Against Howard, Fraser delivered one of the year’s top defensive plays with a 55-yard interception return to help Richmond earn the comeback victory. 2025 also saw the rise of youngsters Devin Geronomi and Amir Haskett. Under Zacharias' direction, Geronomi, a freshman, tallied 27 tackles, including a tackle for loss, and added three pass breakups, highlighted by a season- and career-high six tackles at Georgetown on Nov. 8. Haskett, a sophomore, appeared in 11 games, making two starts, and recorded 23 tackles on the season, including a season- and career-high 11 in the Capital Cup victory against William & Mary and a tackle for loss
