Danny Acosta served as the University of Maryland Eastern Shore's baseball coach from August 2023 until May 2026. Acosta came to UMES with 30 years of experience in coaching, scouting, and skill development. He spent the previous three years as head coach at Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville, Iowa. In the early 1990s, Acosta had coaching stints in Florida and Puerto Rico before spending time with Major League Baseball teams as a scout and pitching coach. From 1995 to 1998, Acosta served as a scout with the Texas Rangers followed by one season as a scout for the Seattle Mariners. He went on to serve as a pitching coach for Santurce Cangrejeros, a professional team based in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He began coaching in the college ranks as an assistant at Iowa Lakes from 2006 to 2010. He returned to MLB as an associate scout for the San Francisco Giants for two seasons before serving as a hitting coach for the Daytona Cubs, then a minor-league affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. Acosta accepted the position of associate head baseball coach at Piedmont International University in 2017 and served three seasons at PIU before returning to Iowa Lakes as their head coach. In his third year as head coach, 2023 was a success for Acosta's Iowa Lakes Lakers both on and off the field as two student-athletes were named to the All-Region team. Additionally, eight student-athletes were named to the All-Region Academic team for their efforts in the classroom.

J.D. Mundy joined Head Coach Danny Acosta's UMES baseball staff as an Assistant Coach during the summer of 2024. For the past two years, Mundy served as a volunteer assistant at Western Carolina University. As the infielders coach, Mundy oversaw an infield that finished top 30 in the country in turning double plays. Mundy's infielders also found great success on offense, finishing atop various hitting categories in the SOCON during the 2023 season. Before his coaching career, Mundy excelled on the diamond as an infielder and designated hitter. Mundy opened his collegiate career with two seasons at Virginia Tech (2017-2018). Mundy bat around the .250 mark over 84 games with the Hokies, making 59 starts. After his time at Virginia Tech, Mundy transferred to Radford to finish off his career. The lefty infielder started in all 56 games he appeared in, hitting .304 with a .412 OBP and a .588 slugging percentage during the 2019 campaign. These marks ranked Mundy 25th, 10th and second, respectively, in the Big South. Mundy also both led the team and finished fourth in Big South with 13 home runs, while driving in a team-high 55 runs. He finished the 2019 season ranked second in doubles (17) and third in total bases (120) in the conference. For his stellar junior season on the diamond, Mundy was a First Team All-Big South selection. Mundy entered his final season in Radford as the Big South Conference's Preseason Player of the Year. Joe Grassett is in his first season as an assistant coach at UMES, where he primarily works with the pitchers under head coach Danny Acosta. Grassett previously served as an assistant coach with Fairleigh Dickinson University for three seasons. In 2025, he coached star pitcher Ethan Rembish, who had a 2.84 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 25.1 innings. In 2024, Grassett's pitching staff at FDU broke the program record for strikeouts in a season with 498, highlighted by Pat Gardner, Zac Capps, and Vlad Ceverino. In 2023, his pitchers broke the FDU record with 474 strikeouts. Grassett began his coaching career at Souhegan High School in 2022 as the program's varsity pitching coach, where the Sabers posted a staff ERA of 1.86 and struck out 215 batters. Before coaching, Grassett pitched at the University of Hartford from 2017 to 2020, helping lead the Hawks to an America East Regular Season Championship and Conference Tournament Title in 2018. He was a two-time America East Commissioner's Honor Roll selection and graduated with a Psychology degree and 4.0 GPA in May 2020.
