Cody Davenport

Biography

Cody Davenport began his coaching career at UCA in the spring of 2021 as Director of Player Development, moved into the role of recruiting coordinator and pitching coach, and now serves as Associate Head Coach/Pitching Coach as of the 2025 season. As a player at UCA, he was one of the most decorated pitchers in school history, drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 20th round of the 2019 MLB Draft as the 10th UCA player taken in the draft over a seven-year span. In his senior season, he was an All-Southland Conference starting pitcher with a 7-4 record, one save, and a league-best 1.98 earned-run average, striking out a team-high 95 batters (3rd in the SLC) in 104 2/3 innings while tossing four complete games. He was an All-SLC Tournament selection after winning UCA's opener with a complete-game, 6-hitter with 11 strikeouts and 1 walk, then earning a save in a 6-3 win that sent the Bears to the championship game. Davenport broke UCA school records for career strikeouts (272), innings pitched (365 1/3), and games started (55), while tying the career record for victories (22). He helped the Bears win a combined 127 games during his four seasons and make four consecutive trips to the SLC Tournament, reaching the championship game twice. In high school at Fayetteville (Ark.) High School, he was All-Conference and All-State in 2014 and 2015, and was named the 2015 Arkansas Democrat-Gazette Player of the Year.
