Guillermo Lemus

Biography

Guillermo Lemus joined the UCLA Rowing coaching staff in September 2024 and will enter his first season on the Bruins’ coaching staff in 2024-25. With over 20 years of rowing coaching experience, Lemus comes back to UCLA after most recently serving as the associate head coach at Kansas women’s rowing. While at Kansas, Lemus coached the 2023 Big XII Newcomer of the Year Kateryna Ustiuzhanina, the 2022 Co-Big XII Newcomer of the Year Melia Martin, and coached Ustiuzhanina to All-American honorable mention accolades in 2023. The Jayhawks finished sixth at the Big XII Championships twice with Lemus on staff, as well as fifth in 2022, while 33 student-athletes earned CRCA scholar-athlete honors Prior to Kansas, Lemus served as the assistant rowing coach at Oklahoma from 2017 to 2021. He assisted the Sooners to a second-place finish at the Big 12 Championships in 2018 and 2019, a third-place mark in the First Varsity Four in the San Diego Crew Classic in 2019 finishing ahead of Texas and California. Lemus also facilitated academic success that helped a student-athlete to be named a Big 12 Scholar-Athlete, a pair of student-athletes to earn Big 12 Newcomer of the Year in 2018 and 2019 and an additional four to earn a spot on the All-Big 12 Conference list. Lemus’ previous stops include stints at University of Southern California, University of San Diego, San Diego Rowing Club, California Yacht Club, Lions Rowing Club, and UCLA.
