Josh Pierre

Biography

Josh Pierre begins his fourth season as director of basketball operations at the University of Alabama as Nate Oats hired Pierre in November of 2022. During Pierre's three seasons in Tuscaloosa, the program has made its first-ever trip to the NCAA Final Four in addition to winning the 2023 SEC Regular Season Championship and Tournament Championship. Pierre comes from a basketball family with deep roots in the sport. His father, Butch Pierre, possesses more than three decades of college basketball coaching experience with stops at LSU (2006 Final Four), Oklahoma State, NC State, UNC Charlotte, Memphis, UTEP, Wichita State and Louisiana Lafayette, and started at point guard at Mississippi State. His twin brother, Joe Pierre, is currently an assistant coach at Furman after spending seven seasons at Liberty University under Head Coach Ritchie McKay. His sister, Dr. Langley Pierre McClay, is the Director of Pre-College Programs, Teaching and Learning at LSU. Before joining Alabama, Pierre served as Director of Scouting & Recruiting at Elon (2019-22), Video Coordinator at Mississippi State (2018-19), and held various roles at Arkansas State.
