Jonathan Delano

Biography

Jonathan Delano joined the men's soccer program as an assistant coach in June 2021, was elevated to associate head coach in September 2023, and heads into his sixth season on Brian Plotkin's staff in 2026. Last season, Army went 7-6-5 and returned to the Patriot League Tournament for the first time since the 2022 as the No. 3 seed. The 2025 campaign saw Army record a dominant 4-0 win in the Army-Navy Cup in front of over 11,000 fans in Philadelphia. Before making his way to the banks of the Hudson, Delano made stops at Penn, Harvard and Dominican (Calif.). Delano's most recent stop was with the University of Pennsylvania, where he spent two seasons as an assistant coach, coaching seven All-Ivy honorees including the 2019 Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year. Prior to his time in Pennsylvania, he served as the associate head coach of the Harvard Crimson men's soccer team, where he helped develop six professional players including 2017 MLS SuperDraft pick Andrew Wheeler-Omiunu. Delano oversaw 19 All-Ivy honorees in his five seasons with the Crimson and was named the NSCAA East Region Assistant Coach of the Year for his work in the 2015 season. Delano started his coaching career at his alma mater, Dominican University of California, in 2003 and was promoted to head coach of the women's team in 2006, twice earning California Pacific Coast Conference Coach of the Year.
