Warren Young

Biography

Warren Young is in his third season as the Senior Associate Athletic Trainer and his sixth year with the men's basketball program at The University of Texas. During Young's first five years in Austin, the Longhorns have registered a 110-58 (.655) overall record, made five NCAA Tournament appearances including a run to the Elite Eight in 2023, and claimed a pair of Phillips 66 Big 12 Tournament titles (2021 and 2023). Young has worked with four NBA Draft selections in Tre Johnson, Kai Jones, Greg Brown III and Jericho Sims, in addition to Timmy Allen, who has seen action with the Memphis Grizzlies. Prior to joining the Texas Athletics staff in November 2020, Young spent the previous 10 years as Senior Associate Athletic Trainer at SMU covering men's basketball. During his time at SMU, Young worked with future NBA players Jeryl Sasser, Quinton Ross, Sterling Brown, Ben Moore, Semi Ojeleye, Feron Hunt and Shake Milton along with legendary Hall of Fame coach Larry Brown. Since 2018, he also assisted the Dallas Mavericks' sports medicine staff with home game coverage. Young spent three years as the Director of Sports Medicine at Texas A&M University-Commerce (2007-10). Young previously worked at SMU from 2002-07 as Assistant Football Athletic Trainer and Director of Undergraduate Student Athletic Trainer Program.
