Karen Monez

Biography

The 2011 CRCA Coach of the Year and 2007 NRA Distinguished College Coach of the Year, Karen Monez wrapped up her 20th season in 2024 as the Head Coach of the nationally-recognized and highly-regarded TCU Women's Rifle program. The Horned Frogs have risen to national prominence under the guidance of Monez as TCU recorded a top-three national ranking in 15 of the last 18 seasons, including a quartet of National Championships in 2010, 2012, 2019 and 2024. Since making the NCAA Championships in 2007, the Frogs have not missed, making 18 straight appearances. TCU has had a tremendous amount of success in the National Championships the last 18 seasons. The Horned Frogs finished second in 2015, 2016, 2021, 2022 and 2023. In addition to reaching the pinnacle in 2010, 2012, 2019 and 2024, they took home the Air Rifle National Championship in 2010, 2012, 2021, 2022 and 2024. In 2013 and 2019, the squad took home the Smallbore National Championship. They have notched two fifth-place finishes (2007 and 2009), third place finishes in 2008, 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017 as well as a sixth-place finish in 2014. Additionally, Sarah Scherer took home the individual smallbore national championships in 2010 and 2012. In 2019, the Horned Frogs produced a pair of national champions as sophomore Elizabeth Marsh took home the smallbore title and freshman Kristen Hill outlasted teammate Angeline Henry for the program's first-ever air rifle National Championship.
