Mike Howard was hired in the Summer of 1989 as an associate head coach with the Oswego State wrestling program. With the success achieved by the Laker Wrestling program over the last 25+ years, coach Howard has made a name for himself in collegiate wrestling. During his career, Howard's teams have had 65 NCAA qualifiers, 18 NCAA Division III All-Americans, 21 individual conference champions, 96 New York State Collegiate Championship place winners and five ECWC Most Outstanding Wrestlers. As a competitor, Howard wrestled for the Lakers for three years at the 167-pound weight class and was a two-time co-captain. Coach Howard serves as the Chair of the NWCA Division III Ranking Committee and served multiple years on the NCAA Championship Seeding Committee.
