Biography

Bojay Filimoeatu (BO-jay FEElee-moe-EE-ah-tu) returned to the San José State football staff for the 2024 season as inside linebackers coach/run game coordinator. He was named Interim Defensive Coordinator for the final two games of the 2025 season and then named Defensive Coordinator in January of 2026. In 2025, under his guidance, inside linebacker Jordan Pollard received First Team All-Mountain West honors for the second time in his career as he finished fourth in the conference and 21st in the nation in tackles with 108 and had 4.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, a fumble recovery, two forced fumbles, three pass breakups, and a pick-six. Pollard's career total of 353 tackles, which is good for ninth all-time in SJSU history, and in his final game against Fresno St. (11/29/25), Pollard had 19 tackles with a 58-yard pick six, plus a tackle for loss and forced fumble with Filimoeatu as the Interim Defensive Coordinator. In 2024, Pollard had 115 tackles, which was good for third in the conference and 25th in the nation. Pollard was named First Team All-Mountain West for the first time in his career. The Spartans' defense as a whole had 28 takeaways, the most in the Mountain West Conference and fifth in the country. He came from San Diego State, where he coached one season as the defensive line coach in 2023. In his lone season coaching at San Diego State, Filimoeatu's linemen contributed to the Aztecs’ 48 total tackles for loss, including 18 sacks. Leading that group was Garret F
