Biography

A two-time NCAA saber champion, two-time NCAA team champion and a U.S. national team saber coach, Aleks Ochocki joined the Princeton fencing teams as an assistant coach ahead of the 2024-25 season. Ochocki's first season saw Princeton sabers earn five All-Ivy League honors, three bids to the NCAA Championships, Alexandra Lee made the NCAA semifinals, and Lee and Emese Domonkos earned All-American honors. Ochocki followed that in 2025-26 with three All-Ivy League honors, All-American honors for Lee and Honor Johnson and another NCAA semifinal berth for Lee. An alumnus of Penn State, Ochocki was the 2009 and 2012 NCAA saber champion and helped the Nittany Lions to team titles in 2009 and 2010, and his work with the U.S. national saber teams has seen him serve as the women’s coach for the 2024 Olympic cycle and as the men’s coach for the 2028 Olympic cycle. A native of Clark, N.J., Ochocki began his collegiate coaching career as an assistant at Stevens Tech in Hoboken, N.J., from 2012-16 before moving on to Notre Dame for three seasons, helping the Irish to back-to-back national team championships in 2017 and 2018 and a third-place finish in 2019. Ochocki returned to the Northeast to serve as an assistant coach at NYU in 2022, serving as an assistant coach until joining the Tigers in 2024. As a member of the U.S. National Fencing Team, Ochocki was a seven-time National Champion, earning a bronze medal at the 2010 Junior World Championships and won more than 40 North American Cup
