Brennan Whitis

Biography

After serving one year as an assistant coach, Brennan Whitis was hired as the head coach of Ohio Men's Golf on Sept. 7, 2021. Since taking over prior to the 2021-22 season, Whitis has led the program to heightened success. In 2024-25, Ohio earned several top 10 team finishes, with its lone top five finish coming at the Joe Faeganes Invite in September. Nathanial Gray Lamont recorded multiple top 15 finishes across the season. Also, Sam Hogan took home sixth at the RedHawk Intercollegiate. In the fall of the 2023-24 season, Whitis coached Will Kates to the program's first individual championship since 2018 at the Virtues Intercollegiate. Kates used three consecutive rounds of three-under par to place atop the leaderboard. During the 2022-2023 golf season Coach Whitis, coached Carson Trafford to a top-10 finish in the MAC Tournament. Whitis also coached his athletes off the green, by having three Bobcats named Academic All-MAC. Before joining Ohio, Whitis served as a graduate assistant for Toledo men's golf program from 2018-20. He oversaw daily operations of the team and assisted with facets of recruiting and fundraising. In addition to his coaching and operational responsibilities, he managed the program's social media platforms. In 2019, Whitis helped coach the Rockets to a third-place finish at the Mid-American Conference Championships; marking the program's highest finish at the conference tournament since 2014-15.
