Eric Frederick

Biography

Eric Frederick is in his 33rd year with Murray State Athletics in the 2025-26 school year, serving as the Racers' Assistant AD for Sports Medicine. He handles the daily athletic training needs for men's basketball and both MSU golf teams. With a long history working with MSU men's basketball, Frederick has been a part of teams coached by Scott Edgar, Mark Gottfried, Tevester Anderson, Mick Cronin, Billy Kennedy, Steve Prohm, Matt McMahon and the start of the Ryan Miller era in 2025. He came to Murray State in the fall of 1993 as an assistant athletic trainer. Frederick directs the sports medicine staff, works closely with MSU team doctors Dr. Richard Blalock and Dr. Richard Blalock III, and coordinates insurance and medical billing for over 350 student-athletes. He also handles travel for the men's basketball team and serves as an instructor in the Murray State Department of Applied Health Sciences. Frederick is pursuing a PhD in rehabilitation sciences at the University of Kentucky and is certified by the Board of Certification for athletic training and licensed in Kentucky. Before Murray State, he worked as a student and graduate assistant athletic trainer at Texas Christian University. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, he earned a degree in physical education with an emphasis in athletic training from TCU in 1992 and a master's degree in exercise physiology from TCU in 1995.
