Head Coach
Coach Willie H. Hill was hired as the track and field coach in 1989 and resurrected Cross Country as a varsity sport in 1990. His Flying Tiger teams have received national acclaim in track and field. Hill, a native of Pelham, South Carolina, was a standout in basketball, football and track in high school. He attended Central State University where he earned NAIA All-America honors as a running back and All-America honors three times as a sprinter. After a brief stint with the NFL's Cincinnati Bengals, he returned to Central State in 1974 as an assistant coach with the women's track team, later coaching both men's and women's teams while also serving as defensive backfield coach for the football team. Coach Hill joined Morehouse in 1979 as a football coach and served as defensive coordinator for 11 seasons before assuming his track and field duties. He has coached championship teams, countless All-America performers, and has been named SIAC Coach of the Year seven times. Hill also served as a dormitory counselor and mentor to students. He attributes his success to study, discipline, and hard work.
