Head Coach
Cara Consuegra was named the seventh women’s basketball head coach at Marquette University on April 17, 2024 and competed her first year in charge of the Golden Eagles women’s basketball program in 2024-25. Consuegra (pronounced con-SWAY-gruh) guided Marquette to a 21-win season and earned BIG EAST Co-Coach of the Year honors in her first year back in Milwaukee. Marquette finished fourth in the BIG EAST after being picked 10th in the preseason coaches’ poll. The Golden Eagles made it to the second round of the Women’s Basketball Invitation Tournament. The Golden Eagles finished the season with a 13-2 record at the Al McGuire Center, tied for the best home record by a first-year head coach. Marquette reached 20 wins in 28 games, tied for the second-fastest road to 20 wins by a first-year head coach in program history with Terri Mitchell (1996-97). Consuegra also tied Mitchell for the most wins in February in her first year with six. Consuegra earned her fifth BIG EAST road win of the season on Jan. 25, 2025, at Georgetown, the most conference road wins by a first-year head coach in program history. Under Consuegra’s leadership, Skylar Forbes earned All-BIG EAST First Team honors after having a breakout sophomore season. Forbes set the single season blocks record at 56 and was just the second player in program history to shoot 90-percent or better from the free throw line in a season. Assistant Coach
Deont'a McChester completed his first season as an assistant coach at Marquette in 2024-25. During the season, he was named to the Advancement of Blacks in Sports (ABIS) Women's Basketball Coaches Watchlist and was a member of the 2025 WBCA Next Generation Institute. McChester helped guide Marquette to a 21-win season in 2024-25. Marquette finished fourth in the BIG EAST after being picked 10th in the preseason coaches’ poll. The Golden Eagles were consistently top 50 in the nation in field goal percentage defense (38.1 percent) and held opponents to under 45-percent shooting from the field in 28-of-32 games. Marquette led the BIG EAST in rebounding all season at 37.5 rebounds per game and a +4.8 rebound margin. The Golden Eagles outrebounded their opponent in 20-of-32 games. Marquette finished third in the BIG EAST in scoring offense (67.1 points per game) and scoring margin (+7.8). Sophomore forward Skylar Forbes earned All-BIG EAST First Team honors while senior guard Lee Volker was named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team. Assistant Athletic Trainer (WBB)
Eric Khondaker currently serves as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Marquette University. He works with the women's basketball team and has previously been the primary athletic trainer for men's soccer and women's tennis. Assistant Director of Sports Performance (WBB)
Maggie Smith is in her 16th year at Marquette University as Assistant Director of Sports Performance. In her role, she works with the women's basketball and men's golf teams. Smith arrived at Marquette after spending six years in California where she worked at the University of the Pacific and Velocity Sports Performance. While at Pacific she worked as an Assistant Director of Athletic Performance, primarily in charge of women's basketball, swimming, field hockey, men's and women's tennis, and water polo. While at Pacific, she also worked the San Jose Sharks and San Francisco 49ers training camp. Before arriving to Pacific, Smith worked at the United States Olympic Training Center where she prepared numerous individual athletes and National Teams for the 2000 Sydney Olympics. In addition, Smith worked as a Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Syracuse University for two years, primarily working with track and field, tennis, lacrosse, basketball, field hockey, and rowing. Smith earned her bachelor's degree in biology from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1999, where she also competed for the women's basketball team. She received her master's degree from Syracuse University in exercise science in 2001. Smith is married to Todd Smith who also is Marquette's Director of Sports Performance. The couple has two kids, Cooper and Grady.

Academic Counselor & Tutor Coordinator (WBB, WLAX, MSOC)
As the academic counselor for the women's basketball, men's soccer, and women's lacrosse team, Meaghan assists student-athletes throughout their academic careers. She also serves as the tutor coordinator for all student-athletes. A proud alumna of Marquette, Meaghan graduated in January of 2018 with her bachelor's degree in secondary education and history. Throughout her undergraduate career she spent time in the Al McGuire Center as both a tutor and academic enrichment coach, as well as a member of the Marquette Dance Team. Meaghan returns to Marquette after working at the University of Maryland, serving as the academic counselor and learning specialist for the Terps Football team. She has her M.S. in Leadership and Policy Studies concentrating in student personnel from the University of Memphis.

Director of Operations
Marquette University women's basketball head coach Cara Consuegra named Michelle Nason as the program's director of operations on May 7, 2024. Nason was director of operations at Wisconsin from 2014-20. Both Nason and Consuegra were assistants at Marquette under former head coach Terri Mitchell. Nason was at MU from 1995-01 and from 2002-14. She served as the associate head coach and recruiting coordinator her final two seasons. Nason helped guide the Golden Eagles to 15 postseason appearances, including seven NCAA tournament bids and the 2008 WNIT Championship. Prior to joining Marquette's coaching staff for the first time in 1995, Nason was a standout student-athlete at Bradley University. She averaged 16.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.5 assists while ranking among the top 3-point shooters in the nation as a senior. Nason started her college career with two seasons at Western Illinois. She finished her four-year NCAA career with 1,597 points. A native of Iowa City, Iowa, Nason received her bachelor's degree in psychology from Bradley in 1995.
