The Peter H. Carter '69 Head Coach for Harvard Alpine Skiing
Harvard Athletics announced the hiring of Scott MacPherson as the Paul J. Finnegan Family Head Coach for Harvard Skiing (Alpine) on June 16, 2017. In June 2020, the alpine coach position was endowed, and his title changed to The Peter H. Carter '69 Head Coach for Harvard Alpine Skiing. MacPherson enters his 10th season at the helm in 2026-27. During his tenure, he has coached multiple NCAA qualifiers and earned EISA Coach of the Year honors twice (2019-20 and 2022-23). Prior to Harvard, MacPherson headed the Boston College alpine skiing team from 2007-15, where he was nominated as the 2010 MacConnell Division Coach of the Year and led the transition from USCSA-level competition to Division I EISA membership. He also earned a master's degree in Higher Education from Boston College in 2013. MacPherson previously worked at Tufts and Waterville Valley BBTS, and began his coaching career at Noble and Greenough School after graduating from Colby College in 2002, producing five undefeated seasons and a New England championship. He holds certifications including US Ski and Snowboard Referee, Crossfit Level 1 Trainer, and training in the Burdenko Method.
