Mark Mueller enters his 13th season at the helm of the men’s golf program in 2025-26 and 14th overall in the program after serving as assistant coach in 2012-13. Mueller and the Lopes had one of the best single seasons in program history in 2024-25, setting a new school record with a 58 final ranking in the Clippd Scoreboard rankings, as well as a trip to the NCAA Regional Tournament for the third consecutive season. The 2024-25 season included seven top five finishes with a team title on its home course in the GCU Invitational. The Lopes ended the campaign with a new program mark of five All-WAC honorees and a major award winner in Matthew Diehl, who became the first WAC Freshman of the Year in program history. Diehl, along with Tommaso Zorzetto, received All-WAC First Team honors with Gavin O'Neill, Nixon Lauritzen, and Kiko Coelho garnering second team. GCU competed as an at-large team at the Montreux Golf and Country Club in Reno, Nevada, in the NCAA Regional Tournament, a testament to its tough scheduling and placements throughout the season. The Lopes went 111-51-1 for the season. Mueller and the Lopes captured their second straight WAC Championship title in 2023-24, leading the Lopes to the NCAA Regional Tournament for the second consecutive season. Michael Schaloum enters his fifth year with the GCU men’s golf program and his second as Associate Head Coach. Schaloum was elevated to associate head coach in July of 2024 after serving as assistant coach for three seasons beginning in 2021-22. GCU finished 111-51-1 in 2024-25 and competed in its third straight NCAA Regional Tournament. Schaloum helped guide the Lopes to seven straight top 5 placements, including the GCU Invitational team title that saw Tommaso Zorzetto win the individual medal for the second consecutive year. The Lopes earned six WAC postseason awards, including a new program record five on the All-WAC team. Schaloum aided Matthew Diehl's preparation into the collegiate game in his first season in 2024-25, to which he won WAC Freshman of the Year. GCU's national ranking achieved a program best in 2024-25, reaching as high as 42 during the season while finishing with a school best number of 58. The Lopes earned an at-large bid into the Reno Regional at the Montreux Golf and Country Club, totaling six postseason tournament appearnaces (WAC and NCAA's) in three seasons. In Schaloum's third season with GCU in 2023-24, he helped guide the Lopes to their second straight WAC Championship title. GCU took home three team titles in 2023-24, including the WAC title at Chaparral Pines in Payson, Ariz., to advance to the NCAA Regional Tournament for the second consecutive season.
