Fort Hays State University Men's Soccer

Alex Nichols enters his second season as head coach of the Fort Hays State University Men's Soccer program in 2025. In his first season, he led Fort Hays State to a 13-4-4 overall record, its 10th NCAA Tournament appearance, and the GAC Tournament Championship. A native of Kansas City, Mo., Nichols holds an impressive overall record of 175-42-19 (.782) as a collegiate men's soccer head coach with two national championships, two national coach of the year honors, and four national semifinal appearances at the NAIA level to his credit. He now has one national tournament appearance at the NCAA level after his first year as head coach at FHSU. Nichols came to Fort Hays State from NAIA affiliate Florida Memorial University in Miami Gardens, Fla., where he was head coach during the 2023 season. Nichols produced the majority of his success at Central Methodist University (Mo.), where he was head coach for nine years from 2014-2022. He guided the Eagles to back-to-back NAIA National Championships in 2018 and 2019. Prior to his nine-year run as head coach at Central Methodist, Nichols spent a season (2013) as an assistant coach and goalkeeper coach at Columbia College (Mo.). He also coached at Rock Bridge High School from 2009-2013. At the club level, Nichols headed programs Sporting Columbia and Kaw Valley FC.
