Biography

Gerald Gillion has joined the Florida State men’s basketball staff as an assistant coach for the 2025-26 season, bringing over 12 years of NCAA coaching experience to the program. Most recently, Gillion served as the associate head coach at Long Island University during the 2024-25 season. Prior to that, he was the head men’s basketball coach at Chicago State University from 2021 to 2024, where he played a key role in reshaping the program. Before his tenure at Chicago State, Gillion spent a season with Samford University, where he was credited with recruiting the most talented class in program history. He also served as an assistant coach at Tennessee Tech from 2017 to 2019 and as a special assistant to the head coach at South Florida from 2014 to 2017. Gillion's early collegiate coaching career included a role as director of basketball operations at Florida International University (2013-14). He began his coaching journey as the head coach at Northeast High School from 2008 to 2013. He is a Florida State University alumnus and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science from FSU in 2008.
