Drew Lukes

Biography

Drew Lukes is the Head of Sports Science for the Duke women's soccer team and a Senior Physical Therapist with Duke Athletics, providing comprehensive clinical care to Duke's Olympic sports programs. He joined the Duke Athletic Medicine staff in 2021 after completing the Duke Division 1 Sports Physical Therapy Fellowship. Prior to arriving at Duke, Drew completed a Sports Physical Therapy Residency at the University of Wisconsin, developing advanced expertise in the evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of high-level athletes. He earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Minnesota in 2019 and a Master's degree in Sports Analytics with an emphasis in sports performance from the University of Mississippi in 2025. He holds additional credentials as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Certified Performance and Sport Scientist (CPSS), and Certified Dry Needling practitioner. In addition to his sports science and clinical responsibilities, he is actively involved in education and mentorship, serving as a coordinator for the Duke Division I Sports Physical Therapy Fellowship and as Course Director for the Sports Rehabilitation course within the Duke Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. Drew has been published in the Journal of Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise (2020) and continues to pursue clinically applied research initiatives at Duke.
