Spencer has led the Bulldogs to a career-best third place Mountain West finish twice in his career (2016, 2019). Trevor Clayton brought home the Mountain West Championship in 2016. Under Spencer, Fresno State has seen one NCAA Regional appearance, seven Individual NCAA Regional appearances and eight All-Mountain West selections. Ryan Firpo was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Year in 2024. Since 2013, Fresno State has had 52 Academic All-Mountain West selections, 28 Mountain West Scholar Athletes and 20 Academic All-American Scholars. He was hired on July 27, 2013 to succeed his former coach Mike Watney, who retired after 35 years of service to the men's golf program. PRIOR TO FRESNO STATE Before rejoining his alma mater, Spencer was the head coach of the Nevada women's golf program, where he led the Wolf Pack to a fourth-place finish at the 2013 Mountain West Championship.
