Biography

Recruiting Areas: North Carolina, South Carolina, Central and Southern Virginia Patrick Murphy is in his second season at Brown in 2026 as the Assistant Coach, Tights Ends/Special Teams Coordinator. A familiar name in Rhode Island and New England with prior head coaching experience, Murphy came to Brown after spending five years at the University of Rhode Island. In his first season at Brown in 2025, Murphy helped Brown's passing offense lead the Ivy League and rank eighth in the FCS with 283.6 passing yards per game. Murphy coached tight end Levi Linowes who earned Honorable Mention All-Ivy accolades. At URI, Murphy served as the Rams’ Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks Coach from 2020-24. In 2024 at URI, Murphy helped lead the Rams to one of the best seasons in program history, winning a program record 11 games, finishing the season ranked No. 9/11 in the final national polls, capturing the CAA Football Championship and winning a first round game in the FCS Playoffs. Murphy coached two All-Americans in 2024 in running back Malik Grant, who earned AP Honorable Mention All-America honors, as well as receiver Marquis Buchanan who earned Second Team Stats Perform All-America. Prior to URI, Murphy spent two seasons as the Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks coach at Holy Cross.
