Head Football Strength & Conditioning Coach
Chris Fenelon was named head football strength & conditioning coach on Jan. 27, 2025 after spending three years serving as the head strength and conditioning coach for Temple University’s football program. Fenelon will oversee all aspects of BGSU football’s strength and conditioning program. Before his time at Temple, Fenelon spent three seasons as a member of the Ohio State football strength and conditioning staff. He joined OSU as an assistant coach in January 2019. During his tenure, the Buckeyes won two Big Ten Championships and earned berths in two College Football Playoffs. In 2020, they defeated Clemson in the Sugar Bowl, 49-28, before facing Alabama in the National Championship Game. A native of Bellerose, N.Y., Fenelon also spent three years on the strength staff at Iowa State University prior to joining Ohio State. His time at Iowa State coincided with the first three years of the Matt Campbell era, a former Bowling Green assistant coach. During Fenelon’s tenure, the Cyclones experienced notable success, winning 16 games and achieving their highest Big 12 Conference finish in 40 years (third in 2018). The 2017 Cyclones set school records for wins against ranked opponents (three, including Oklahoma) and road victories (five). Iowa State also set records for conference wins in each of Fenelon’s last two seasons and earned bowl game appearances both years. David Florea
David Florea has worked in the sports medicine department at BGSU since May 2018. In April 2025 he took over the title head football athletic trainer. He previously was is an assistant athletic trainer serving as the second contact for football and primary tennis. Before arriving at BGSU, he was an assistant athletic trainer at Western Michigan University, where he served as the athletic trainer for the hockey and dance programs. Weithman joined Indiana State football program in 2020 as the team's video coordinator. Styles was a Super Bowl-winning linebacker for the St. Louis Rams (XXXIV) who was on staff in 2017 and 2019 when Pickerington Central won the state championships in both seasons. His son, Lorenzo Styles Jr., caught the game-winning touchdown pass in 2019. Styles also previously served as the head coach of the Marion Blue Racers (2012) of the United Indoor Football League. He spent the 2010 season with the Marion Mayhem (CIFL) as defensive line coach and was defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach of the Dayton Silverbacks (CIFL) in 2011. Styles started his collegiate coaching career at Ohio Dominican in 2010 and 2011 as the linebackers coach. Styles appeared in 70 career games in the NFL over six years, split between the Atlanta Falcons (1995–96) and the St. Louis Rams (1997–2000). He was a two-time first-team Big Ten honoree at Ohio State (1993–94), where he was teammates with BGSU head coach Eddie George. Styles was a third-round (77th overall) pick of the Falcons in the 1995 NFL Draft. Styles' sons, Lorenzo Jr. and Sonny, were both members of Ohio State's 2024 national championship team. Both are expected to be drafted in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Scott Stolz joined the BGSU staff in June 2023 as the assistant director of player personnel. For the 2025 season he was moved over to defensive quality control. While working as the assistant director of player personnel he assisted in evaluating potential prospects and helps manage the recruiting database and transfer portal while maintaining relationships with recruits and their families. Stolz also mentors student recruiting interns and helps organize recruiting functions. Stolz graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s in communications in 2023. During his senior year, he served as a scouting intern with the Spartans, enabling positional coaches to successfully evaluate recruits and determine program viability while also evaluating and managing scouting activities for the MSU quarterbacks. During the 2020 season, Stolz was an assistant varsity football coach at Bullock Creek High School in Midland, Michigan. A Midland native, Stolz attended Dow High School and graduated in 2019.
