Austin Peay State University Women's Cross Country

Asha Gibson-Smith is in her third season leading the Governors' cross country and track and field programs after joining the Governors in July 2023. Since being named head coach, the Governors broke four athletic and three academic awards. Gibson-Smith previously served as an assistant coach at Drake (2019-2022), where she helped develop NCAA West Preliminary qualifiers and achieved multiple school records. Prior to Drake, she spent five years at Tennessee State (2014-2019), where she coached Olympic Trials qualifiers and NCAA All-Americans across indoor and outdoor championships. She began her coaching career at Jacksonville State University (2008-2014), where she established 14 school records and developed U.S. Junior National qualifiers.

Kendall Muhammad serves as an assistant coach for cross country and distance events in track & field. Since joining Austin Peay, Muhammad has steadily elevated both
