Shelby Bourn

Biography

Bourn brings experience in building the structure and culture of a new field hockey program. She comes to Alfred University from NCAA Division II Roberts Wesleyan University, where she served as Top Assistant Field Hockey Coach (2023-2025). During her time at RWU, Bourn helped establish the program's foundational culture, core values and competitive standards, helping the Redhawks post a 7-8 record in their third season. Prior to Roberts Wesleyan, Bourn was the Lil' Kickers Coordinator/Senior Camp Director at Tri-County Sports Complex in Macedon, NY. She previously spent six years at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy in Suffolk, VA as Head Varsity Field Hockey Coach, Assistant Varsity Girls' Lacrosse Coach and Middle School Girls' Basketball Coach, leading a disciplined and competitive field hockey program. Bourn also has experience in higher education, serving as Records and Stewardship Coordinator at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy and as Gift and Data Management Specialist at St. John Fisher University. She is a 2016 Wells College graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. As a field hockey player at Wells College, Bourn earned the 2012 Field Hockey Rookie of the Year award, 2013 and 2015 Most Valuable Player honors, and was named the 2015 North Eastern Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year.
