Kate Werner

Biography

Returning to her hometown of Pullman, Wash., Kate Werner enters her 13th season at Washington State as the team's coordinator of operations. Werner oversees team travel, budget preparation, community service activities and student-athlete academic liaison. The Cougars have had multiple student-athletes placed on academic all-conference teams in every season since her return. Last season, the Cougs put three on the all-academic team including first team honoree Jovana Subasic. In 2017-18, the Cougs put four on the team including two-time first team honoree Pinelopi Pavlopoulou. In 2016-17. the Cougs put three on the Pac-12 All-Academic team led by Pinelopi Pavlopoulou's first team recognition. In addition to the junior guard, sophomore's Alexys Swedlund and Maria Kostourkova took home honorable mention honors in their first season of eligibility. During the 2015-16 season, four Cougars earned Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention. Senior Mariah Cooks earned the honor for the first time, while sophomore Bianca Blanaru, Louise Brown, and Pinelopi Pavlopoulou earned recognition in their first year of eligibility. In 2014-15, Werner helped Cooks earn her Pac-12 Conference All-Academic honorable mention selection. Cooks earned the same accolade in 2013-14. For the second-straight year, the Washington State University women’s basketball team was recognized as part of the NCAA’s Public Recognition Awards for the 2013-14 academic year.
