Prior to his tenure with the Cyclones, he served as the Director of Baseball Operations for two seasons at Belmont University and worked in the Guest Services and Marketing offices for the Nashville Predators and Tennessee Titans. A former prep softball and women's basketball coach, Gilles graduated from UW-La Crosse and earned a Master's degree from Belmont.
