Head Coach
Now entering his 10th season, Kirby Smart’s record is an impressive 105-19 for an .847 winning percentage. The highlights include back-to-back College Football Playoff (CFP) National Championships (2021, 2022), a 2017 CFP title game appearance, Southeastern Conference Championships in 2017, 2022 and 2024, six SEC Eastern Division titles and eight New Year’s Six bowl games. In 2024, Smart became the fifth fastest coach to reach 100 career wins in FBS history, needing just 117 games to do it. The milestone win, a 30-15 victory, came over No. 1 Texas in Austin. Two months later in the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta, Georgia beat then No. 2 Texas again. Over the last four years, Georgia has been the most dominant program, leading the FBS with a 53-5 record including two national titles and two SEC crowns. Overall, the Bulldogs lead the nation with 28 consecutive bowl game appearances. Through 2024, the program has produced 63 NFL draft picks in the Smart era including 17 first-round selections. Also, Georgia extended its national-leading streak of having at least one former player in the Super Bowl for the 24th consecutive year. Assistant Coach - Outside Linebackers
Chidera Uzo-Diribe was named Outside Linebackers Coach on Feb. 6, 2022, after serving briefly as defensive line coach at TCU. He is part of a coaching staff that led the 15-0 Bulldogs to the 2022 College Football Playoff National Championship with a 65-7 victory over TCU in the title game following a semi-final win over Ohio State in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl semi-final, 42-41. The Georgia defense finished the season ranked among the nation’s leaders in rushing defense (1st, 77.1), scoring defense (5th, 14.3 ppg), red zone defense (2nd, 0.676), and total defense (9th, 296.8 ypg). The ‘Dogs defense also boasted two first team All-Americans in DL Jalen Carter and DB Chris Smith, Butkus finalist (Jamon Dumas-Johnson), Lombardi finalist (Carter), Nagurski finalist (Smith), and Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award finalist (Malaki Starks). Uzo-Diribe, a native of Corona, Calif., came to Athens after serving as defensive line coach with SMU in 2021. He followed head coach Sonny Dykes to TCU after the 2021 season before accepting the position at UGA. SMU was 8-4 in 2021 and defensive lineman Elijah Chatman earned All-American Conference second-team honors. Uzo-Diribe also coached defensivel ineman DeVere Levelston who led the conference in sacks. Associate Head Coach - Defensive Backs
Donte Williams, a veteran of 15 years of coaching defensive backs at multiple power conference schools, was named the defensive backs coach at UGA in December of 2023. Williams previously served in the same role at Southern California, where he served on the Trojans’ staff from 2020-2023. He was hired onto the staff as the defensive passing game coordinator and cornerbacks coach, serving in those roles in 2020. He was promoted to assistant coach in 2021 and also held those same duties. Following the head coaching change in 2021, Williams served as the interim head coach for the remainder of the 2021 season. He continued to serve on new head coach Lincoln Riley’s staff in 2022 and ’23 as defensive backs coach and defensive passing game coordinator. During the 2022 season, Williams helped lead the program’s defense to a top-five national ranking in interceptions per game. He helped develop Mekhi Blackmon, an All-Pac-12 First Team member in 2022, during which he recorded 66 total tackles, two of which were for a loss of seven yards, 12 pass breakups, three interceptions a fumble recovery and a forced fumble. Blackmon was selected in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings. Southern California won 11 games in. ’22 and earned a berth in the Cotton Bowl. Fain & Billy Slaughter Defensive Coordinator - Inside Linebackers
Glenn Schumann was promoted to Defensive Coordinator (Inside Linebackers) prior to the 2022 season and has been in charge of the Georgia defense since that move. He was named Co-Defensive Coordinator (Inside Linebackers) in February 2019 after three seasons in charge of the team’s inside linebackers. Georgia has continued to set the standard in college football for defense. Schumann has played a central role in keeping the level of performance high. His unit played a pivotal part in the 2025 Bulldogs finishing 12-2, winning their second consecutive Southeastern Conference title and punching their ticket to a fourth College Football Playoff in the last five years. The Georgia defense ranked fourth nationally in Rush Defense (81.5 yards per game), 10th in Scoring Defense (17.6 points per game) and 14th in Total Defense (298 ypg) while allowing only 10 points to No. 10 Texas and seven points to No. 9 Alabama in the SECCG. Individually, Schumann’s linebacker unit also represented with its top two tacklers. Junior ILB CJ Allen earned consensus All-America honors and was named a finalist for both the Butkus Award and the Lott IMPACT Trophy. Assistant Coach - Wide Receivers
James Coley, who served as Co-Offensive Coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of Georgia in 2018 and then Offensive Coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Bulldogs in 2019, is currently the team's Assistant Head Coach. Coley has been on the UGA coaching staff since Kirby Smart took over as head coach in 2016. He was named Co-Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach at Georgia in 2018 after two seasons coaching the Bulldogs’ wide receivers. Coley was part of a 2017 staff that led the Bulldogs to a record-tying 13 victories, first SEC championship since 2005, first appearance in the College Football Playoff, first appearance (and victory over Oklahoma) in the Rose Bowl CFP semifinal, and first appearance in the College Football Playoff Championship Game. Georgia’s offense finished first in the SEC and 9th nationally in Rushing Offense (258.4 ypg), 3rd in the SEC in Scoring Offense (35.4 ppg), 5th in Total Offense (435.3 ypg), and 4th nationally in Red Zone Offense (0.964). The Bulldogs followed up in 2018 with another SEC Eastern Division championship, 11-win season, and appearance in the Allstate Sugar Bowl. The Georgia offense finished first in the SEC in total rushing offense, rushing offense per game, and second in the SEC in total offense, touchdowns scored, and scoring offense. Special Teams Coordinator
Kirk Benedict was named the Bulldogs’ Special Teams Coordinator in February 2024 after serving two years as the team’s Special Teams Analyst. Benedict’s special teams unit shined as brightly as ever in his fourth year at Georgia en route to the team’s second straight Southeastern Conference title and second consecutive trip to the College Football Playoff. Punter Brett Thorson collected the Bulldogs’ second Ray Guy Award, snapper Beau Gardner clinched the first Patrick Mannelly Award in school history and kicker Peyton Woodring was named a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award for the third time in his career. Thorson also earned Walter Camp and USA Today All-America First Team honors after averaging 45.5 yards on 2,094 punts, including forcing 25 fair catches and sending 15 balls that traveled 50 or more yards. Georgia finished fourth nationally in Net Punting (43.5) and gave up the country’s fifth fewest punt return yards (18). Gardner snapped on 72 of 73 Woodring’s field goal attempts or PATs and all of Thorson’s 52 punts and was named an AFCA First Team All-American. Woodring finished the year 17 for 19 on field goals and drilled three that traveled 50 or more yards. John and Alice Sands Offensive Coordinator - Quarterbacks Coach
A Georgia native who played quarterback for the Bulldogs from 1994-97 and was an on-field coach for the program from 2001-14, Mike Bobo began his second stint as UGA’s Offensive Coordinator in February 2023 after serving a season in a Quality Control position for the Bulldogs’ offense. The Thomasville, Ga., native is now a three-time Broyles Award finalist (2012, 2023, 2025). Bobo’s offense went to work in 2025 with a new starting quarterback, only one lineman who had more than five starts the season before and without three of the team’s top four targets from 2024. His unit answered by averaging more than 32 points a game, toppling five top 20 teams, winning its second straight Southeastern Conference title and advancing to its second consecutive College Football Playoff. Georgia finished in the top 10 nationally in both Total First Downs (339, second in the SEC and fifth nationally) and Completion Percentage (69 percent, second in the SEC and 10th nationally). In 2024, Bobo crew helped Georgia capture its second SEC championship in three years. Co-Defensive Coordinator - Safeties Coach
Travaris Robinson joined head coach Kirby Smart’s coaching staff in January 2024 to be the Bulldogs’ Co-Defensive Coordinator and guide the safeties. Robinson helped the 2025 Georgia team to a 12-2 record, its second consecutive Southeastern Conference crown and its second straight trip to the College Football Playoff quarterfinals. Bolstered by the play of his safeties, the Bulldogs ranked fourth nationally in Rush Defense (81.5 yards per game), 10th in Scoring Defense (17. 7 points per game) and 14th in Total Defense (298 ypg). Georgia kept No. 10 Texas and No. 9 Alabama to a combined 17 points over a four-game stretch late in the season. Under Robinson’s tutelage, KJ Bolden was the team’s second-leading tackler in 2025 with 76 stops and two interceptions to earn All-American and All-SEC second team honors. The 2025 NFL Draft saw a pair of his 2024 safeties selected as First Team All-American Malaki Starks was picked at 27th overall in the first round by the Baltimore Ravens and All-SEC selection Dan Jackson was taken in the seventh round by the Detroit Lions. Robinson teamed with Bulldog Defensive Coordinator Glenn Schumann to maintain the standard set by Georgia’s recent defenses during his first season in 2024. In his UGA debut, the defense held No. 14 Clemson to just three points. During one of Georgia’s next challenges, Robinson helped the Bulldogs blast top-ranked Texas 30-15 in Austin in front of a record-breaking crowd after the Longhorns arrived averaging 43.2 ppg.

Assistant Coach - Defensive Line
Tray Scott was named UGA defensive line coach on February 10, 2017, after serving two years in a similar position at the North Carolina. Scott was briefly hired as the defensive line coach at Ole Miss in January 2017, before accepting the Georgia job prior to that season. Since arriving in Athens, Scott has had eight defensive linemen drafted, including five in the opening round. In fact, Scott had a record-breaking three First Round selections (Travon Walker, Jordan Davis, Devonte Wyatt) in 2022, including the No. 1 overall pick in Walker to the Jacksonville Jaguars, and bolstered his overall number with a trio taken in the 2025 NFL Draft (Mykel Williams, Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins, Warren Brinson). Also during his tenure at UGA, the Bulldogs have won the 2021 and 2022 College Football Playoff National Championships, won 12 or more games six times (2017, ’19, ’21, ’22, ’23, ‘25), won four Southeastern Conference titles (2017, ’22, ’24, ’25) and earned nine consecutive appearances in a New Year’s Six Bowl game. The 2017 ‘Dogs also played in the CFP national championship game.
